Latin for “Mary’s Land,” Terra Mariae left no doubts as to whom the new colony of Maryland was dedicated when King Charles I signed the charter in 1632. Maryland was named for his wife, Queen Henrietta Maria. While considered an outsider in her adopted home of England, Henrietta’s personal complexity made her a more intriguing ruler. Similarly, our spiced rum layers notes of caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange peel for a sophisticated, intricate taste worthy of Her Majesty.

Tasting Notes:

This spiced rum breaks the mold of traditional commercially available spiced rum. Very little sugar is added to the finished product, so the thick syrupy feel and over sweetness allows the actual rum and spice flavors to be showcased. When sipping neat, you can actually taste through the different spices at different points — cinnamon, vanilla, allspice, ginger, and orange. Most identify with the spices as being very “wintery” or reminding them of the holidays; think pies, mulled wine, and spiced cider.
