Giovani De Verrazano, an Italian explorer, made his way up the coastline of the soon to be colony of Maryland in the early 1500s- the first to explore the east coast. By the early 1700's, the colony of Maryland was booming and small coffee houses were popping up everywhere. Coffee was a luxury during this time and the coffee houses served as social gathering places to talk gossip and politics. We aim to recreate that luxury with the spirit of exploration in a unique flavor combination using real hazelnuts and cold brew coffee from local roasters.
Tasting Notes:
We take a different approach to constructing this rum. It gets bottled at a lower proof and with sugar added, making it very drinkable right into the glass. It comes across with a big bold coffee flavor; think chocolate, caramel, and toffee, followed by a very soft finish of hazelnut. The sweetness and coffee layer nicely over the base white rum.
